First of all, we would like to briefly explain how Bob's House came to exist. During the summer of 2005 we suddenly lost "Bob", a former humane society dog, who became a very special member of our family.
Needless to say, our hearts were broken. To remedy our sadness we decided to do something memorable in his honor. We will be operating a foster facility directly affiliated with the Eau Claire County Humane Association.
Letter from ECCHA Director Lauren Evans
Our center will provide one-on-one loving care, in addition to the space and comfort of a home. All too many dogs are terrified and confused at shelters, which can make their chances of adoption almost zero. The seniors are especially stressed at finding themselves abandoned at this stage of their life. We hope that their time at Bob's House will alleviate some of their anxiety, and prepare them for their forever families. We plan to house twelve dogs at a time, while hopefully having a steady rotation of animals, as adoptions take place.
We have personally funded a 30' x 64' steel outbuilding. This includes the excavation, concrete, the building itself, septic, well, wood burning stove, electrical, and materials getting us to the point of where we are now. Currently, we are working on the interior (the walls are up, ready for sheetrock!!!). Our ongoing concern is financial. We will need to raise enough money for the completion of the building as well as funding a monthly operating budget. Bob's House is planning a large raffle in the next few months.
Help with the 2009 calendar raffle
We have filed all the necessary paperwork to become a non-profit organization 501 (c) (3). Please consider any donation you make in 2009 a tax deductable, charitable donation. We will have that status very soon and can provide reciepts upon request. We are grateful for all donations, which will allow us to focus entirely on helping homeless dogs. With the support of our community, and those who have already so generously given,we hope to have Bob's House up and running in the summer of 2009.

We would like to spread the word about a relationship that we have formed with a new organization in the Eau Claire area, that we think will greatly benefit the animals in our care. Over the past year we have been watching as The Quella family has carefully planned and then successfully built Bob's House Foster Care & Adoption Center. When Travis and Amy first approached me with their ideas for Bob's House, I thought that their goals were ambitious. But they have proven to ECCHA how serious they are about rescuing and caring for homeless and abandoned dogs.
A big part of ECCHA’s mission involves "providing shelter and compassionate care for abused, neglected, lost and unwanted animals" as well as "adopting animals into loving responsible homes." We feel that Bob's House has these same core values at the heart of their mission, as well.
In the future, Bob's House will be working very closely with ECCHA to provide specialized care and temporary housing for dogs at our facility. This could include senior dogs and dogs with specific behavioral problems or medical needs that require special attention. Bob's House will also help ECCHA by housing adoptable dogs when our shelter is full, so that we can avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable dogs. ECCHA currently takes in an average of more than 90 dogs per month. Our facility is only equipped to handle 30 dogs at a time, so we are constantly struggling to find ways to house the large number of dogs in our care.
The dogs at Bob's House will be posted on our website as "available for adoption" and potential adopters will be able to visit them at Bob's House before making the decision to welcome them into their homes forever. The adoption process will remain the same, and adopters will be required to fill out ECCHA's adoption application and contract before assuming guardianship of their new pet. The staff and volunteers at Bob's House will assist ECCHA in screening potential adopters and helping them find the dog that will work best for their family and lifestyle.
We hope that you will consider showing your support for Bob's House, and we look forward to working with them in the future to ensure that more dogs find their forever homes.
Sincerely,
Lauren M. Evans
